Paul Makes a Strong, Personal Appeal

December 15, 2013 Preacher: Bob DeWaay

Scripture: Galatians 4:16–4:20

This section of Scripture warns of false teachers who want to "shut out" Christians unless they submit to false teachings and those who promote them. We show that the gospel itself is the touchstone for discernment. This sermon addresses the zeal that is typical of false teachers and cults. Paul says that they "shut you out." Those who listen to false teachers are forced to obey them and get their teaching only from them. They must yield unquestioning submission. This Paul warns against. We show that this is typical by referring to the way John the Baptist and Jesus were treated. It is a loving thing to correct error and point people to the truth of the gospel.
