The Betrayal of God's Faithful Son
February 8, 2015 Preacher: Eric Douma Series: Mark
Scripture: Mark 14:43-52
In Mark 14:43-52 we witnessed Jesus being betrayed by Judas and handed over to the religious leaders of Israel. This narrative informs us that every person close to Christ fled from Him during His arrest. This contributes to the "Christ alone" idea portrayed throughout the gospel of Mark where Jesus is presented as the only faithful Son. We also learn from this passage that God's dealings with humanity through Christ were public and open for all to see. Christ taught publicly, died publicly, was raised publicly, ascended publicly, and is returning publicly! This is contrasted with the evil deeds done by Judas and the Sanhedrin in secret.
