In this sermon we discuss two important categories in 1 John and the rest of the New Testament: lawlessness or abiding. We give Biblical examples of this through Cain and Abel, Judas and Peter. This illustrates sin that leads to death, and sin that is forgiven. Those who are born of God are not sinlessly perfect, yet abide in Christ and His blood continually cleanses them. True salvation involves being removed from Satan’s domain and transferred to Christ’s. Our spiritual well-being is about whose spiritual authority we are under. Those who are abiding in Christ are safe and cannot be removed from Christ by outside sources. This is relational and not geographical.
