The Sanctity of Life and a Christian Worldview
Life is sacred because humans are created by God in His image. The Bible prescribes the death penalty for murder as an expression of the value of human life. A Christian worldview tells us to protect the innocent, including the unborn. Human rationality is part of being image bearers of God and we must use it to survive and thrive on the earth. Romantic sentimentality about nature will not lead us to a Christian worldview. We discuss the Jacob/Esau narrative and how Esau wanted vengeance rather than to find out God’s will. God has chosen that the blessing would come through Jacob who became Israel. Those who bless Israel, God will bless. We also discuss the fact that God draws out the boundaries of nations and that such nations with boundaries are part of a Biblical worldview. We end by laying out key positions that are necessary for a worldview that shows the sacredness of human life.
