We see how the sign of "Immanuel" ("God with us")—which was previously proclaimed and made known to King Ahaz, the Davidic House, and the people (Isa 7:10–25)—begins to unfold in Isaiah's own day with the birth of his second of two sons, "Maher-shalal-hash-baz" (Isa 8:1–22). The events that unfold in just the next few years authenticate Isaiah as a true prophet from God (cf. Deut 13:1–5; 18:9–22) and have profound implications for his proclamation of a coming, greater, Davidic son, who is truly "God with us" (Isa 9:1–7)
