Dana Burkinshaw continues with his survey of the books of the Bible. He begins by examining the FLIGHT characteristics of Exodus: Facts – Landmarks – Itinerary – Gospel – History – Travel Tips. Dana describes Moses’ encounter with God at the burning bush in terms of the revelation of the Great “I Am” who later reappears in the Incarnation. He demonstrates that the covenant between God and Israel follows the pattern of other covenants in the ancient world. Two Bible chronology controversies are dealt with: the length of the oppression and the date of the Exodus. The book also gives rise to Bible geography controversies regarding the route of the Exodus: where was the Red Sea crossing and where was Mt. Sinai? Dana then shows how the Tabernacle was a type of Christ. He concludes with an explanation of the puzzling incident involving Moses and circumcision on the way back to Egypt from Midian. He also explains the apparent contradiction about the contents of the Ark of the Covenant (1 Kings 8:9 vs Heb. 9:4).
